WVU Receives AAALAC International Accreditation

The WVU Animal Care and Use program is proud to announce that the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center, Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute, the College of Arts and Sciences and the Food Animal Research Facility have been accredited by AAALAC International as of October 28, 2016.  AAALAC International is a private, nonprofit organization that promotes the humane treatment of animals in science through voluntary accreditation and assessment of animal care programs at institutions all over the world.  Accreditation by AAALAC International demonstrates an institutions commitment to responsible animal care and use for the advancement of medicine and science when there are no non-animal alternatives in an ethical and humane way.

The AAALAC International accreditation number for WVU is 1646 and a link to the accreditation letter can be found on the main WVU Animal Care and Use page.  We would like to extend a big thank you to all of those who worked on attaining this goal by contributing time, energy, and expertise during the process of preparing the accreditation application.
