Biomedical Sciences 700 Course

In addition to the online training, the University also offers in-person training through the Biomedical Sciences (BMS) 700 course. The BMS 700 course is currently offered only in the fall semester of each year and is worth one credit hour of University course credit. For more detailed information about the course, such as the day of the week and time slot it is offered, or to sign up, please login at STAR using your WVU MyID and password. See also the BMS 700 sample syllabus.

The BMS 700 course is currently required for all trainees, postdoctoral fellows, and scholars who will be funded by any NIH grant that is new or a renewal awarded after January 25th, 2010 or any NIH continuation (type 5) grant awarded after January 1st, 2011. This requirement only applies to any of the following NIH grant award types (see your PI to find the type of grant award):

If your NIH grant award is not one of those types, then you are not required to complete the BMS 700 course under the NIH Awards Policy.

If you believe you have completed a course that could be considered equivalent to BMS 700, you can email a copy of the equivalent course syllabus to RCR@mail.wvu.edu. We will decide whether the course is equivalent to BMS 700 or not and let you know shortly thereafter.
